A little organisation goes a long way when it comes to jewellery. Here is what I follow β tried, tested, and works every time.
1. Avoid Air, Water, Moisture, Sunlight and Perfume
These five things tarnish jewellery faster than anything else. Simple rule β wear jewellery last while getting ready. Perfume and lotion first, jewellery after.
2. Store in Zip-Lock Bags With Silica Gel
Zip-lock bags or anti-tarnish pouches keep moisture out and tarnishing at bay. Especially useful during monsoon.
3. One Piece, One Pouch
Each piece gets its own small zip pouch. No tangling, no scratching, and you find anything instantly.
4. Always Wipe and Dry Before Storing
Never store jewellery damp. A quick wipe with a soft cloth before putting it away prevents blackening and tarnish buildup.
5. Organise by Category
Party rings in one large pouch, party earrings in another. Ethnic rings separate, ethnic necklaces separate. Pull out exactly what you need without touching everything else.
6. Move the Earring Lock to the End
Before storing earrings, slide the lock to the tip of the pin. It will not prick you or tear the pouch.
Store smart once β and finding the right piece will never be a problem again.
